When arriving at VVWRA, the first thing you are likely to notice is the giant American flag. VVWRA is home to one of the largest American flags in the region. It is easily spotted for miles around. The flag flies on top of an 80 foot pole and measures 40 feet by 25 feet. It weighs 37 pounds. The flag was raised during a ceremony on November 3rd, 2022 that honored our local military veterans. VVWRA General Manager Darron Poulsen says “When our old flagpole started showing signs of wear, we wanted to do something special to honor the men and women who have served our country.” Due to the size of the flag and the strong desert winds, it took 8 VVWRA employees to attach the flag to the snap hooks and raise it up the pole.
